SCHANIE, KERMIT THURSTON, 83, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

He was retired from CSX where he worked for over 47 years, an Army veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of Manual High School and a member of Highview Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Schanie; and sister, Elsie Weaver.

He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Jean Foell; daughter, Kathleen Elliott (Adam); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jacob, Katie, Hudson, Gideon and Avery Elliott; brother, Irven Schanie; and sister, Gladys Miller.

His funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday.
