William Edward Ryder Alexander Sr.

ALEXANDER, WILLIAM EDWARD RYDER SR., the son of Reella O. (Lackey) and Jesse Wilson Alexander, Sr. was born November 12, 1934. He died on Monday, May 12, 2014. William attended the Louisville Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1952. He attended and graduated from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio, in 1956. He served four years in the U.S. Army before working as a Physicist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio for over 30 years.

He was a Life Member of the Society of American Magicians; a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Dayton, Ohio; a member of the Louisville Magic Club serving as its Sergeant-of-Arms; a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; and a member of Broadway Baptist Church.

His parents preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death his wife Mary; children, Noreda Denise of Dallas, TX, William Edward, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ, Norman Douglas of Ridgecrest, CA, and Ivanora Odessa of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Michael David, Richmond, TX; Isis Alma Inda and William Edward Ryder III, Ridgecrest, CA, and Hunter Jacob, Scottsdale, AZ; brothers, Jesse of Louisville, KY, George (Norma Jean) of Marietta, GA; sister Emma Beattie (Brady) Melton of Willoughby, OH; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at Broadway Baptist Church, 4000 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY, on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. Visitation will take place at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1- 5 p.m.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity services, and Broken Wand services, will be held at the viewing. Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Fort Knox, KY.
