Michael Beer Obituary
"Mike," 58, of Louisville passed away Sunday August 14, 2016 at Baptist Hospital East with his family by his side.
Mike was a vice president at LG&E Utilities, loved boating, fishing, the beach, cooking, writing, and fine Kentucky Bourbons. Most of all Mike loved his family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father; Gerald Beer. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years; Susan Vonnahmen Beer, daughters; Katie Pilkington (Carter), Kara Beer (Martin Prichard) mother; Patricia Christiansen Beer and his stepmother; Jane Beer.
Mike's Memorial Mass will be 10 am, Friday, August 19, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church 212 Mt. Mercy Ave. Pewee Valley, KY 40056 Visitation will be 4 to 8 Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Ratterman Funeral Home 12900 Shelbyville Rd. East Louisville, KY 40243 In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to The Colon Cancer Prevention Project or The CBC Group at Baptist Health Louisville in Mike's honor.

Mike has ascended to an everlasting life of glory but you have entered a terrible time of loss and sadness. I believe that his presence will always be near, that he will help you in ways you cannot know yet but he will be with you until that day you see him face to face with Jesus. Many people have asked how we found Decatur as a place to reside. I simply think that but for the relocation to Decatur, the Hill Family would not have become life long friends with this amazing man and his family. Michael was a member of the Decatur Area Arts Council, Macon County Mental Health Center, and contributed his time to may other organizations. He served Millikin University as an Adjunct Professor of Law. He was an expert in Federal Energy and Regulatory Commission and Policy.
Above all, he was a great friend and family member with the Hill Clan. We pray for all the Beers!!
May Michael rest in peace.
