Coker, Phyllis Annette,
Phyllis Annette (Hayes) Coker, 86, of Henryville, IN, passed away at 1:35 PM on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.
Born March 1, 1930 in Crofton, KY, she was the daughter of Richard Edward Hayes and Annie Jewel (James) Hayes.
Annette was a 1948 Crofton High School Graduate and a 1953 Vanderbilt Graduate where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She retired from being the Director of Nursing at the Clark County Health Department and previously was a Macon County Health Nurse in Tennessee. She was a devoted Christian who strived to follow Christ, serve her Lord and her church. She was a member of First Baptist Church Henryville where she served as the pre-school and adult Sunday School Teacher, Church Pianist, and a Deacon's wife. She served as an Associational Discipleship Training Director for many years.
On August 29, 1954 in Lafayette, TN, she married Carleslie Coker who passed away November 12, 2005.
Survivors include 1 son, David H. (Mary) Coker of Manteno, IL, 1 daughter, Ann Leslie (Leon) Jones of Murfreesboro, TN, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 siblings, Glenda Luttrull of Trenton, KY, James "Jimmie" (Rosetta) Hayes of Leoti, KS, Donald "Donnie" (Monna) Hayes of Sacramento, KY.
She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Steven Coker on April 23, 1975.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at First Baptist Church Henryville with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Friends may visit on Friday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory and after 11:00 AM on Saturday at First Baptist Church Henryville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Coker Memorial Scholarship Fund or First Baptist Church Henryville c/o Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 209 S. Ferguson St., Henryville, IN 47126.
