Prudence Whitlow Obituary
Whitlow, Prudence Stearman,
93, of Hodgenville, a native of Green County, passed away, Thursday, April 20, 2017, at her home.
She was born October 5, 1923, and graduated from Green County High School in 1941. She and her husband were married on their mutual birthday of October 5, 1949. She attended the University of Kentucky and Vanderbilt School of Nursing and worked at Fort Knox during World War II. She later ran a general store in Creal, Kentucky for several years with her husband. In 1957, they became owners/mangers of the Lincoln Memorial Motel in Hodgenville and continued until their retirement in 1997.
Prudence was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Her passions included traveling, sewing and her many pet cats through the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eugene Whitlow; her parents, Virgil Stearman and Virgie Warren Stearman; a sister, Sarah Stearman Line and a brother, Carl Stearman.
Prudence is survived by a daughter, Faye Nicholas of Hodgenville; a grandson, John (Emily) Nicholas of Elizabethtown and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Nicholas of Elizabethtown.
The funeral for Prudence Stearman Whitlow will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Chris Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
