Mary Ellen (Randall) Rota
1936-2014
LOWELL -- Mary Ellen (Randall) Rota, 77, a Lowell resident, formerly of Marlborough, MA and Jaffrey, NH died peacefully on February 2, 2014 after a brief illness, while surrounded by all who loved her. She was the wife of the late John C. Rota, Jr. who passed away in 2003.
Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Hanley) Randall.
Mary worked as an executive secretary working at both the former Hahnemann Hospital in Boston and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick.
She cherished the time she spent with her whole family and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Family was her priority and her children value the legacy she has created for them.
Mary often took the time to lose herself in a good book. She was very smart and worldly and was always up to speed on current events and politics. Mary was glamorous and maintained an impeccable reputation for her style, particularly with her elaborate collection of hats. She was a faith filled person and was so appreciative of the parish community she was a part of at St. Michael Church in Lowell.
Mary was the proud mother of six children who survive her, Therese Griffin and her husband, Dennis of Lowell, with whom she resided; Virginia Vallee and her husband, William of Holden; Maryellen Rota and her husband, Sesh Kannan of San Francisco, CA; James Rota and his wife, Uyen of Australia; John Rota, III and his wife, Janet of Milford, NH; Valerie Jarest and her husband, Tim of Temple, NH. She is also survived by two brothers, James Randall and his wife, Aletha of Wilmington; Thomas Randall of Dudley;17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Randall.
ROTA -- Relatives and friends are invited to her Life Celebration to be celebrated on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM in the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth St., Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, Lowell. Interment will be held privately at The New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. It's with great sadnes that I hear about the passing of your Mom. She was a great sweet, beautiful, funny, smart person . Always quick with some fun interesting topic a hope or wonderful story. What a great loss. I hope you can find solace in the fact that it was her family,all of whom came out great, that is her greatest tribute to a rich and full life.
