Constance 'Connie'
(Hurley) Conway
Beloved Billerica wife, mother, grandmother
BILLERICA -- Constance "Connie" (Hurley) Conway, a 59-year Billerica resident and beloved wife of late longtime Selectman Thomas "Hap" Conway Jr., died Monday, April 14, 2014, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, following a brief illness. She was 83.
Born on Feb. 6, 1931, in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Catherine T. (Sullivan) Hurley. Raised as a devoted communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Connie was a Lowell native, having attended St. Michael's School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1948 from St. Patrick's Girls High School.
Connie, who as a young woman worked as a teller at Union Bank in downtown Lowell, celebrated 54 years of marriage with her husband Thomas, with whom she raised six children, prior to his death in 2007. She was employed for 21 years in the Billerica Public Schools as a paraprofessional at both the Talbot Elementary School and Marshall Middle School before her retirement in 2001.
Connie was renowned for her delectable Irish bread loafs, which for decades she baked as a St. Patrick's Day treat for numerous family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Andrew's Parish in North Billerica since 1955.
A member of St. Andrew's Sodality and St. Theresa's Women's Club for many years, she was also a longtime supporter of the Billerica Democratic Town Committee and represented the town four times as a delegate at the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.
Connie is survived by her six children: Catherine Conway of Lowell; Thomas III and wife, Lynne (Morrison) Conway; twins, Maureen Conway and Michael Conway; Martin and wife Kimberly (Allen) Conway; and Kevin and wife, Jennifer (Gadbois) Conway, all of Billerica. She was also mother of Martha Ann Conway, who passed shortly after her birth in 1961.
Connie was the cherished grandmother of John Conway and his fiancé, Melissa Laing of Chelmsford; Brian Conway of Shrewsbury; and Shawn, Timothy, Kaitlyn and Clare Conway, all of Billerica.
Connie was the sister of the late Thomas F. Hurley Jr., whom she lost on April 4, 1969, and was aunt to his only child, Patricia Anne (Hurley) Ouellette of Dracut.
She was the sister-in-law of Barbara (Conway) and the late Russell Greenwood of Chelmsford, John and his wife, Deanna (Thompson) Conway of Billerica, Patricia (Desmond) and her husband, Paul Kilian of Westford, as well as Leonard and his late wife, Alice (Conway) Haines of Billerica, and the late Charlotte (Conway) Harvey.
Survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends, Connie will be particularly missed by her cousin, Anne (Hurley) Hamilton of Manchester, N.H; as well as dear friends Paula McWhinnie, Mary Faria and Mary "Polly" Dutile, all of Billerica.

I remember meeting Mrs. Conway many years ago when I was a student of one of her daughters. She was a lovely woman. May she rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Conway Family at this very sad time. Your Mum was always so kind and friendly to those of us who grew up with you kids in Garden City. May your memories fill your heart with joy, and bring many smiles to your face. Laugh and enjoy telling the grandkids all the funny things you remember about your mum. May God hold her in the palm of his hands...... Rest In Peace Mrs. Conway
