MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 308 Pawtucket Street, Lowell on FRIDAY from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Saturday morning with a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Rita, 158 Mammoth Road, Lowell. Jeannette Y. (Barry) Burns Resident of Lowell; age 73 LOWELL -- Mrs. Jeannette Y. (Barry) Burns, age 73, a resident of the Pawtucketville section of Lowell, died on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Walter S. Burns. Born in Lowell, on December 6, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. and Cecile V. (Alexander) Barry. She was educated in the Lowell school system and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. Prior to her retirement, she was a cafeteria worker for the University of Lowell. Jeannette was a parishioner of the Parish of Saint Rita and was a member of the Women's Club. She was also a member of T.O.P.S. Surviving her in addition to her loving husband are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark S. and Marie Burns of Lowell; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Laurie A. Burns and her companion, Paul Gionet of Billerica, Sharon J. Smialek and her husband, David of Dartmouth, MA, Lynne M. Morse and her husband, Matthew of Lowell, and Jennifer L. Burns and her companion, John O'Brien of Wareham, MA; seven grandchildren, Ryan and his wife, Anissa, Michaela, Avery, Stephen, Sean, Sarah, and Melanie; two great-grandsons, Mason and Bronson; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Katherine Barry of Lake Barrington, IL; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lorraine Gaudette and her husband, Bernard of E. Longmeandow, MA, and Claire Dumais and her husband, Donald of Lowell; also nieces and nephews. BURNS -- died in Lowell on Nov. 26, 2014. Mrs. Jeannette Y. Barris Jr., Robert W.  
Robert W. Barris Jr. Lived in Chelmsford, MA, WWll Vet; 91 PORTLAND, Maine -- Robert Wade Barris Jr., 91, died peacefully on November 18, 2014 with his children and grandchildren by his side. For most of his life, Bob was a resident of Chelmsford, MA and summer resident of Ocean Park, ME. For the past two years, he lived at The Woods at Canco in Portland, ME. Bob was born to Robert and Lydia Shedd Barris on May 12, 1923. Bob was a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He was a lieutenant in the Navy and served as a 2nd assistant engineer in the Merchant Marines in World War II. Bob married Helen Ruth Vidito in 1950. She sadly predeceased him 34 years to date on November 18, 1980. Bob is survived by his sister, Charlotte Lawson Walker; a son, Robert W. Barris III and his wife, Deborah; three daughters, Marsha Van Leeuwen and her husband, Don; Barbara Smidt and her husband, Sid; Judith Cote and her husband, Paul; four grandchildren, Kate Nicholson, Zachary Nicholson, Matthew Cote and his wife, Olivia and Siemen Smidt; and his many friends in Ocean Park. While Helen was alive, they enjoyed ballroom dancing with their "dance group". He enjoyed reading, refinishing furniture, re-caning chairs and yard work. Bob thought of the Ocean Park cottage as his home and took great pleasure in sitting on the porch talking with his friends as they walked to and from the beach. Bob retired from Lowell General Hospital in 1988 where he was the Facilities Director. Bob was a member of William North Lodge A.F. & A.M., Lowell, MA and Aleppo Shriners, Wilmington, MA. BARRIS -- A private family graveside service will be held at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford, MA. There will be an open house celebration of Bob's life in May, 2015 at the Ocean Park family cottage. More information will be provided to friends and family in the spring. Donations in his memory may be made to the Ocean Park Association, 14 Temple Ave., Ocean Park, Maine 04063. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, Chelmsford.
