Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather Korean War
LOWELL -- Alfred Lucien Lapointe, the beloved husband of Judith (Arches) Lapointe, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2013 at his home, just one day before his 77th birthday.
He was surrounded by his loving family.
Alfred was born in Lowell on August 18, 1936, one of eleven children of the late Alexander and Blanche (Boisvert) Lapointe. He attended the Lowell Schools. At the age of 17, Alfred enlisted in the United States Marine Corps
. He served honorably for three years, from 1953 until 1956 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Lapointe served for over a year and a half in the Philippines, where he met and married his wife Judith.
They returned to the United States from his military service and made their home in Lowell, raising three children, Alfred, Marc, and Michelle.
Mr. Lapointe was employed for 27 years as a machinist at MACOM. He was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Church.
Alfred was a simple and genuine family man. He loved his wife and children, and was very proud of his three grandchildren. He enjoyed family get-togethers, working around his home, and listening to music.
In addition to his loving wife Judith, Alfred is survived by his three children, Alfred A. Lapointe and his wife Ramona of Lowell, Michelle A. Lapointe of Lowell, and Marc A. Lapointe and his wife Charlene of Merrimack, NH; his grandchildren, Eric Lapointe, Alex Lapointe, and Devin Lapointe, all of Merrimack, NH; his three sisters, Beatrice Maher of Townsend, Jeanette Majder of Dracut, and Mary Ann Grondine and her husband Leo of Florida; his two brothers, Maurice Lapointe of Pelham, NH and Alexander Lapointe and his wife Lorraine of Florida. Mr. Lapointe is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Alfred was the brother of the late Raymond, Robert, Roland, and Donald Lapointe, and Doris Smith.

Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL, on WEDNESDAY MORNING, August 21, 2013, from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M. His Funeral procession will follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery Chapel, where his Funeral Committal Prayers will be said.
