Alice B. Jezak
Retired Teacher, 95
CHELMSFORD -- Alice B. Jezak passed away on July 18, 2014, at Palm Center, after a brief illness. She was the devoted daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Molda) Jezak.
Born in Lowell on January 20, 1919, Alice was a lifelong resident of the Pawtucketville section of the city. She graduated from Lowell High School, obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the former Lowell State Teacher's College and her Master's Degree in Education from Fitchburg Teachers College. She advanced her education at Tufts University where she earned her certification as a diagnostic reading teacher.
Alice's career began in a rural one room school house in Benton, NH. She later taught elementary school in Lowell and retired after dedicating 40 years of her life to teaching. Her last position was as Reading Specialist at the Pawtucket Memorial Elementary School.
She was a parishioner of the Holy Trinity Polish Church and a member of the Senior Citizens Club of the parish. She also held membership in the League of Catholic Women, the Retired Teachers of the Northern Middlesex County, the Retired State Employees of Massachusetts, and the Z.P.R.K. of Chicago.
Alice enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, dining out with friends and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Family was one of Alice's highest priorities in life. She is survived by her brother Joseph W. Jezak, two nephews: William Jezak and his wife Rachel of Falmouth, Stephen Jezak and his wife Denise of Lenoxdale, three nieces; Elaine Farrow and her husband David of Chelmsford, Carol Gonsalves and her husband Jack of Woburn and Barbara Jezak of Concord and her former spouse Bert Notini of Cambridge.
Alice also leaves behind grandnephews Brian Gonsalves, Joseph, Michael and John Jezak and William Notini; grandnieces; Lisa Cunningham, Suzanne Valley, and Laura Notini; great-grandnieces; Isabel Cunningham and Mikayla Jezak and great-grandnephews Ayden Jezak and Preston Valley.
Alice was predeceased by her brother Walter Jezak, sisters, Sophie Tymowicz and Helen Swencornis, brother-in-laws Adam Tymowicz and Joseph Swencornis, sister-in-laws Alice Jezak and Rita Jezak and grandnephew David A Farrow.
JEZAK -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, on Friday, July 25th from 9-10:15 AM. Alice's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM in the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity Polish Church and burial will follow in Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery, Lowell.
