WESTFORD -- Anna M. (Fama) Ashman of Westford, formerly of S. Boston, died Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2013 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home/Restorative Center in Lawrence, MA.

She was married to the late Edward J. Ashman, who died on March 23, 1989, for 45 years.

Born in South Boston, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sadie Fama. She was educated in the Boston Public Schools.

Anna lived in South Boston until 1976; when she and her husband moved to Westford on a permanent basis after spending many summers at their cottage in Nabnasset. Due to the onset of Alzheimer's disease, Anna has spent her final years as a resident of Mary Immaculate Nursing Home.

Anna worked for Stride Rite Shoe, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Prudential Insurance, Wang Laboratories and Courier Corp.

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA.

She was a member of the Castle Island Association, the Emblem Club, the Chelmsford, the Lowell and the Burlington Senior Centers.

Anna loved traveling with her husband, particularly to Las Vegas and especially, later on trips to Foxwoods Casino with her daughters and granddaughters.

She is survived by three sons, Edward Jr. and his wife Andrea Ashman of Solon, ME, Paul and his wife Patricia Ashman of N. Reading, MA and Richard Ashman and his partner Bonnie Fitzgibbon of Westford, MA; two daughters, Annmarie and her husband Stanley Jarzembowski of Westford, MA and Center Ossipee, NH and Karen Ashman of Nashua, NH; one sister, Connie (Fama) O'Malley, previously of South Boston, of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Leo Fama of Ormond Beach, FL and Carmen Fama of Woburn, MA; 17 Grandchildren; 30 Great-grandchildren and 6 Great-great-grandchildren.

She was the grandmother of the late Paul Ashman and the step-mother of the late Elizabeth Kelly.

Visiting hours Wed. 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Thurs. at 9:00 a.m from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA. Burial in Bourne National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
