Anne Golden Obituary

Anne (Stowell) Golden
Loving mother and grandmother
LOWELL - Anne (Stowell) Golden, 85, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died August 27, 2013, in Lowell, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident.
She was the beloved wife of the late G. Douglas Golden, who died on June 26, 2013, and with whom she had celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell, May 28, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Byrne) Stowell. Anne received her early education at the St. Patrick Grammar School and graduated from St. Patrick High School with the Class of 1946.
Anne met George through mutual friends. They married on September 29, 1962, and settled in the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell to raise their family.
A preschool teacher beloved by parents and children alike, Mrs. Golden began her career at ABC Nursery in Chelmsford, and later, taught at the Greater Lowell Technical High School's "Tot Shop" until she retired in 1994.
While she adored her preschoolers, nothing was more important to Anne than being a loving wife, mother and, especially, grandmother – a role she declared to be "the most fun of all". Grammy Golden loved being involved in her granddaughter's activities, and attended many a gymnastics meet, dance recital, and softball game.
A member of the "greatest generation", Anne was proud to be raised in a large Irish Catholic family where she learned the value of hard work, family bonds and strong faith. Throughout her life, she exemplified these values, inspiring her son and grandchildren to follow in her footsteps.
She was a devout communicant of St. Margaret Church of Lowell, where she was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and faithfully attended Eucharistic Adoration each Thursday.
A kind, generous person, Anne will always be remembered for her warm personality, and for helping others, especially those in need.
She is survived by a son, Timothy Golden, and three cherished grandchildren, Lindsay A. Golden, Molly M. Golden and Madeline K. Golden, all of Lowell; a sister, Irene Newton of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews, including Linda Welch of Lowell.
She was the sister of the late Katherine Lally, Alice Trepanier, Loretta O'Rourke, and Rita Stowell.
GOLDEN - In Lowell, August 27, 2013. Anne (Stowell) Golden of Lowell, aged 85 years. Beloved wife of the late G. Douglas Golden. Friends will be received at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd., Lowell, on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Mrs. Golden's funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:30 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Margaret Church, Stevens St., Lowell, at 9:30 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Funeral Directors, Frederick W. Healy and Walter F. Bayliss, Jr.
