Anthony 'Tony' Gemmellaro

DRACUT -- Mr. Anthony "Tony" Gemmellaro, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 19th, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital.
Tony was born May 2, 1925 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a son of the late Pasquale and Gaetana (Garasi) Gemmellaro.
He was married 58 years to his loving wife, Anastasia "Ann" (Kefaleas) Gemmellaro whom pre-deceased him on January 17, 2010.
Tony was educated through the Lawrence schools. He enlisted in the Army
in 1950 serving during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Upon his return, he worked at Fort Devens as a carpenter for many years up until his retirement.
Tony was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, a member of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 25, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP, and the Pan Laconian Society. He and his wife, Ann enjoyed spending time at the Holy Trinity with the Tuesday morning club.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Gemmellaro and his wife, Theresa (Macrina) of Westford; two grandchildren, Peter Gemmellaro of Philadelphia, Stephanie Gemmellaro of Westford; a brother-in- law, Nicholas Kefaleas of Lowell; a niece, Joanne Santapaola and her husband, Vincent of Salem, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tony was pre-deceased by his siblings, Joseph Gemmellaro, Gaetano Gemmellaro, Antonia Gemmellaro, his sisters-in-law, Nancy Gemmellaro, Sarah Kefaleas, Sara Koumpouras, and Joyce Kefaleas; and his brothers-in-law, Costas Koumpouras and George Kefaleas Jr.
GEMMELLARO -- Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. His funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9:00 am with services at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Holy Trinity Church, Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854.
