DRACUT -- Armand A. Larmand, WWII Veteran, barber, 86, died Wednesday, September 18th, 2013, at the Lowell General Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Rita A. (Barry) Larmand with whom he's been married for 63 years

Armand was born in Lowell, on September 24, 1926, a son of the late Bella and Nelson Larmand.

He served his country proudly as part of the U.S. Navy during WWII on board the USS Kearsage CV-33, until his honorable discharge.

He attended Lowell Public Schools, prior to getting his license at the Boston School of Barbering.

Armand, also affectionally known as "Toots", "Tootsie", "Pips", "Daddio", "Joe", "Charmin-Armand", and "Candyman", enjoyed gathering with friends and family and never missed his grandchildren's school and athletic activities. He enjoyed playing cards Friday night at the Elks, long walks, visiting the beach, gardening, making puzzles, scuba diving, flying sea planes along the Merrimack with his buddies, and traveling.

Armand was an awarded artist and graciously shared his talents by volunteering at Dracut Senior Center, as well as local nursing homes, especially D'Youville Senior Care Center where he taught "Art Therapy" to Alzheimer patients. He also volunteered at Ste. Theresa's Parish in Dracut, D'Youville Senior Care Center of Lowell, and at Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center while accumulating over 7,000 hours from from 1988 to 2012.

Through the years he was a member of several organizations including the Lowell Elks, Dracut Historical Society, Chelmsford Art Society, Franco-American Society, Art Alive, United Commercial Travelers, Mens Club at Ste. Theresa's Parish, and Community Teamwork Inc.

Along with his wife, Armand is survived and will be deeply missed by his four children, Linda Cowern and her husband, David of Dracut, Sandra Piekarski and her husband, William of Rye, NH, Marc Larmand and his wife, Kathleen of Dracut, and Scott Larmand of Lowell; sister, Lorraine Fobair and her husband, James of MN.

He will be sadly missed by his seven cherished grandchildren, James and Shannon Murphy, Colin and Alexa Piekarski, Andrew, Amanda and Alex Larmand.

He also leaves sisters-in law, Lorraine Gaucher of Dracut,and Priscilla and her husband, Robert Stone of Dracut, a brother in law Raymond Lamy; as well many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his brother, Raymond Larmand, sisters, Lillian Rybicki, and Gloria Lamy, brother-in-law, Joseph "Gus" Gaucher, and nephews, Gary Gaucher, and Dana Stone.

LARMAND -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, September 22 from

4 to 8 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His funeral will take place from the funeral home on Monday, September 23 at 10 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish in Dracut. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lowell General Hospital Teamwalk for Cancer Care.
