Betty Cole Obituary

Betty Lange Cole
40 year resident of Chelmsford

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA -- Betty Lange Cole, a 40 year resident of Chelmsford, passed away October 3, 2012 in Fairfax, Virginia.

Betty and her husband, C. Daniel Cole, raised their four children in Chelmsford while Dan was a professor of physics at the former Lowell Tech now the University of Massachusetts/Lowell campus until his death in 1985.

Betty, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was active in the Open Gate Garden Club, co-founder of the Busy Bees Junior Garden Club, and a member of the "Herb" group.

She was a preschool teacher by profession with a degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Buffalo (1951) and taught for many years. She designed the preschool classroom space for the First English Lutheran Church in Lockport, New York, as an accessible classroom space for young children in the 1950s. However, her proudest accomplishment was in nurturing her close family.

Betty is survived by her four children: Catherine Cole (Peter Lynch) of Springfield, Virginia, Cynthia Cole Fulton of Damascus, Maryland, Robert Cole (Katherine Wilson) of Baltimore, Maryland, and Kenneth Cole (Ann) of Amesbury, Massachusetts; ten grandchildren - Meghan Saliba (Joshua), Katharine Lynch (Bryan DeAngelis), Keri Fulton, Krista Fulton, Maria Cole, William Cole, Eli Cole, Owen Cole, and Luka Cole; and two great-grandchildren - Jackson Saliba and Timothy DeAngelis.

COLE -- Her funeral will be held on October 13, 2012 at 10:00 in the church built by her father, the First English Lutheran Church in Lockport, New York, and visitation will be at the Lange Funeral Home in Lockport on Friday, October 12 from 7:00 to 9:00.
