TOWNSEND -- Donald R. Ball, 92, of Townsend, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his residence.
Mr. Ball was born in Methuen, September 1, 1920, a son of Merritt and Annie (Shirton) Ball and was a graduate of Searle High School there. He continued his education at watch making school.
He has resided in Townsend for the past ten years with his daughter Pamela and son in-law Steve, but had resided in Hampton, NH, Hampstead, NH and Nashua, NH.
Mr. Ball leaves his wife of 69 years, Virginia R. (Sharpe) Ball; two daughters, Beverly A. Kuncho and her companion, John Tortorice of Hampton, NH, Pamela R. Parker and her husband, Steve, of Townsend; a son, Donald R. Ball Jr. of Derry, NH ; a brother, Frank Ball of Salem, NH; two sisters, Joyce Sparta of Methuen, Marilyn Logan of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was father of the late Carolyn E. Lilly of Hampton, NH who died in 2008; father-in-law of the late Chief Anthony H. Kuncho who died in 1993; brother of the late Barbara Jameson of Bradford, Beth Byron of Cape Cod, Patricia Indurre of Salem, NH and Robert Ball of North Salem, NH.
Mr. Ball served his country for 22 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1965 at the rank of CWO 3. He was a combat medic in WWII
and fought in both WWII and the Korean Conflict
Following his retirement from the armed forces, he worked sixteen years as a quality control electrical engineer at BAE Company in Nashua, retiring in 1982.
He was a member, Past Worshipful Master and Past Grand Mason of the Spicket Masonic Lodge in Salem, NH, a member and past "Boss Clown" of the Bektash Shriners Temple in New Hampshire. He enjoyed gardening, boating, lobstering and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
BALL -- A memorial service will be held 11 am Monday, May 20th at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street (Rte. 119) Townsend Center. Burial will be private.
Calling hours are 2-5 Sunday.
