Edward J. Casey, Sr.
retired Trial Clerk, Lowell District Court

DRACUT -- Edward J. Casey, Sr., 81, a well known and longtime resident of the Centralville section of the City, died Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of the late Anne L. (Roberts) Casey who died April 10, 2006.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, October 17, 1931, the son of the late John J. and the late Mary E. Mellen Casey, he attended St. Patrick Boys Grammar school and was a graduate of Keith Academy in the Class of 1949.

Prior to his retirement, Ed was a Trial Clerk with the Lowell District Court for 15 years. Previously, he was a former manager and bartender at Nabnasset Lake Country Club for over 20 years.

Ed loved the game of golf and was a longtime member of Nab. He would proudly boast that he was a good athlete in his day whether playing as a half-back for the Acre Shamrocks or as a versatile fielder for Brooksie's Softball team. Ed always loved a good time and he enjoyed himself wherever he went. Third Street was the gathering place for many get togethers and holiday parties. He loved going to lunch on Thursdays with the Riley gang and would talk about the fun they had and how much they laughed. Ed especially treasured the time he spent with his family. They spent many a night telling stories, raising a glass, singing Irish songs and dancing. He will truly be missed.

He is survived by two daughters Patricia Casey and Colleen Casey of Dracut; two sons John J. Casey of Newmarket, NH and Timothy P. Casey and his wife Laurie of Salisbury; two daughters-in-law Judith Casey of Lowell and Mary Casey Gorman of Dracut; seven grandchildren Daniel P. Rourke and his wife April of Lowell, Paul J. Rourke and his fiancée Renata Brito of Dracut, Robert O. Rourke and his fiancée Suzanna Bradley of Lowell, John J. Casey and his wife Catherine of Lowell, Brendan J.
