NORTH CHELMSFORD -- Frank Joseph Cleary, 90, of North Chelmsford, died Sunday May 12, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell.

He was the husband of Lillian (Chalmers) Cleary with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on April 28.

Born in 1923 in Lowell, he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Barrett) Cleary and the last of six children. He was raised and educated in Lowell.

During World War II, he served in the US Army in the N. Africa and European Theater; he also fought during the Battle of the Bulge.

Frank worked as a Supervisor at the Mass. Dept. of Publics Works for over 35 years before retiring in 1985.

He was a longtime North Chelmsford resident. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed traveling, outdoor work and helping his neighbors.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Frank J. Cleary Jr. of Castle Rock, CO, and Edward Cleary and his wife, Joanne; three grandchildren, Kimberly Brown, Michael Cleary and Caitlin Cleary; one great-granddaughter, Scottie Jo Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

CLEARY -- Frank J. Cleary, of N. Chelmsford, MA, died on May 12, 2013. Visiting hours Thurs. 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Fri. at 8:00 a.m. from the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St., N. Chelmsford, with a Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church in N.Chelmsford. Cremation at Merrimack Crematory, Merrimack, NH.
