WRENTHAM, MA -- Francis Edward Earle, 74, known to family and friends as 'Ed', died peacefully Thursday, November 1, 2012, at The Maples Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham after a one year battle with Lymphoma.

He was the beloved son of the late Grace (Stanton) Earle-Ingalls and the late Edward M. Earle, formerly of Lowell. He is survived by his loving companion of 30 years, Sharon Maguire and her son Erick, and by his children Kent Earle of Andover, and Karen Donahue of Medfield, both from his previous marriage to the late Joan Annese. Ed is also survived by two sisters, Eileen Bell of Dracut and Carol Souza of Chelmsford. He was the brother of the late Carl Earle. Ed has one grandchild, Addison Earle, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ed grew up in Lowell, graduating from Lowell High School in 1955. He later studied drafting and design at Lowell technical Institute, now UMASS Lowell. His life was exemplified by his love for the outdoors. He held many course records across New England in solo kayak racing. His proudest moment was finishing 2nd in the Canadian Kayak Championships in 2009 at age 69. At 72 "Fast Eddie" was still dominating his class beating racers 20 years his junior. He will be missed.

EARLE -- Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass in his honor at 5:30pm on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at St. Agnes Parish, 186 Woburn Street, Reading.
