Loving mother and grandmother
LOWELL -- Guillermina (Montanez) Hernandez, age 84, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Heritage Nursing Care Center in Lowell, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Cecilio Hernandez who passed away April of 1999.
She was born in Puerto Rico on August 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Carmelo and Brigida (Arroyo) Montanez. Guillermina was a longtime resident of Lowell, and attended the Ebenezer Assembly of God Church and Iglesia Pentecostes Camino a la Victoria Church.
She enjoyed sewing, music, puzzles, and was a champion at playing Chinese checkers. She was also very devoted to her faith and enjoyed attending church. Most of all, Guillermina loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Gloria Torres and her husband, Julio of Puerto Rico, Bethzaida Vasquez and her husband, Rafael of Lowell, David Hernandez and his wife, Aida of Clermont, FL, Rev. Cecilio Hernandez, Jr. and his wife, Maria of Lowell, and Maria Anstiss and her husband, Jerry of Dracut; four sisters, Margarita Ruiz of Lowell, Dolores Guzman of Orlando, FL, Maria Rodriguez and her husband, Jesus of Puerto Rico, and Miguelina Montanez and her husband, Frank Arroyo of Puerto Rico; a brother, Ramon Martinez and his wife, Martha Rivera of Puerto Rico; also 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Guillermina's family would like to give a special thank you to the Nurses and staff at Heritage Nursing Care Center for the exceptional care that was given to her during her time there.
HERNANDEZ -- Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, December 30 from 4 until 8 pm. Her Funeral Service will take place on Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Ebenezer Assembly of God Church, 27 Loring St., Lowell. Interment in Lowell Cemetery.
