Loving mother and grandmother; 96
LOWELL, MA -- Helen A. Plaistek, 96, a longtime resident of the Centerville Section of Lowell, died April 18th surrounded by her loving family at the Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell. Helen was the loving widow of the late John T. Plaistek who died in 1969 and whom she married, on the same date of her death in 1937.
Helen was the only daughter of the late Thomas and Valerija Dirsa. Her early years as a young woman were spent working in the mills, mainly the Wannalancette Mill in Lowell.
She was a longtime employee of Raytheon Corporation and later retired to her wonderful home in Pelham, New Hampshire. It was in Pelham that she enjoyed her family and many of her new found friends especially her good friend Virginia Chiasson. Helen also was a very active member of the Pelham Senior Citizens leading many exercise classes.
Helen raised and is survived by her loving children; Jean Dempsey and her husband retired Lowell policeman Jack Dempsey of Cape Cod, Audrey Orlando of Lowell, and her son John T. Plaistek of Newburyport. She is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren who were so dear to her heart.
She was predeceased by her brother Joseph, Albert and John Dirsa.
Helen was truly loved by her family for her generosity and kindness. She will be deeply missed. The family also wishes to acknowledge the kind and responsible care that she received at the Wingate Nursing home.
PLAISTEK -- At Helen's request all services are private and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut.
