DRACUT -- Jacqueline V. (Vigeant) Destrempe, 84, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Northwood Healthcare Center surrounded by her family.
For 58 years, she was the beloved wife of Robert A. Destrempe.
Jacqueline was born in Lowell on January 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Conrad and Cecile "Ida" (Dubuque) Vigeant. She was educated in Lowell Public Schools, and worked in retail for Bon Marche, Cherry and Webb, and Jordan Marsh.
She was a member of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes parish in Lowell.
Jackie loved the beach, reading, travel, talking on the phone with friends, dancing on Saturday nights with her husband, her close cousins, her friends, homemaking, and most of all her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Robert, she is survived by four sons, Richard Destrempe and his wife, Diane of Bedford, NH, Norman Destrempe of Concord, MA, Raymond Destrempe and his wife, Debra of Lowell, MA, and Robert Destrempe and his wife, Gina of Chelmsford; she was a loving "Mémère" to her seven precious grandchildren, Jeffrey Destrempe of Lowell, Scott Destrempe of Dracut, Anna (Destrempe) Laliberte of Los Angeles, CA, Kara Destrempe of San Francisco, CA, Alida Destrempe of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew and Philip Destrempe, both of Chelmsford, MA; also one brand new, beautiful great-grandchild, Jordan Destrempe of Dracut, MA.
Jacqueline was predeceased by her brothers, Norman and Gerald Vigeant.
The Destrempe family would like to thank the staff of the Northwood Healthcare Center and New England Hospice for the exceptional care she received during her time with them.
DESTREMPE -- Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Sunday, May 5th from 3 until 6 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9 o'clock at Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Church, Dracut. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
