Joseph Maurice Gabriel Coupal

LOWELL -- Joseph M. Coupal, 71, the beloved husband of Annette (Marchand) Coupal, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Lowell General Hospital, with his family by his side.

Joseph Maurice Gabriel Coupal was born in Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada on December 29, 1941, one of 13 children of the late Phillippe and Irene (Lareau) Coupal. Educated in Canada, Joe was raised on the family farm. He came to the United States in 1961 and married Annette Marchand on November 21, 1964. They made their home and raised their family in the Highlands neighborhood. Joe worked for 32 years as a pressman for Americraft, Inc. in Lowell.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annette (Marchand) Coupal; his children, David Coupal and his wife Karen of Dracut, Dennis Coupal and his wife Lorrie of Derry, NH, Alicia Coupal of Tyngsborough, and Angela Gitschier and her husband Erik of Lowell; six grandchildren, Nicholas Coupal and Joshua Coupal of Dracut, Zachary Gitschier of Lowell, Haylee Coupal and Kylie Coupal of Derry, NH, and Savannah Clifford of Tyngsborough; his brothers, Henri Coupal of Montreal, Canada, Omer Coupal of Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada, and Michael Coupal of New Port Richey, Fla.; his sisters, Carmen Towne of Champlain, NY and Dolores Rabideau of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Joe was the brother of the late Lionel, Wilfred, Guy, Andre, Medard, Richard, and Yolande Coupal. He was also predeceased by his favorite pets, Precious and Minoune.

COUPAL -- In Lowell, September 25, 2013, Joseph M. Coupal, 71, husband of Annette Coupal, a Highlands resident.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Funeral Mass on SATURDAY MORNING, OCT. 5, 2013 at 11 o'clock at THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Lower Church), 144 East Merrimack Street, Lowell.

It being his wish, there will be no visiting hours.
