In Bradenton FL, on June 25, 2013 at his home, Leon P. Blanchard entered into eternal rest.

He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (Brule) Blanchard who died on March 12, 1981.

He was born in Lowell, MA, on Oct 24, 1916 where he lived, until moving to South Boston in 1927. He was the son of the late William Henry Blanchard and Roseanna Valerie Desrosiers. At a young age, he left high school to help his parents and siblings during the Depression.

In 1942, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed at Fort Devens, Ayer, MA, he was Honorably Discharged in 1943.

Using his G.I. Bill and earning his Degree in Masonry and Plasterwork, he was self-employed from 1944 to 1956. In 1956, he accepted a job at the Murray Printing Co./Courier Corp. where he stayed until 1972. He was offered a Position at the Ayer District Court in Ayer, MA, as a Maintenance Superintendent. He worked there until his Retirement in 1984.

Leon enjoyed card games including cribbage and poker, bingo, slot machines, and fishing.

He is survived by his son, Bernard L. Blanchard of Chelmsford, MA; daughters, Carol A. Nastasia Polak of Westford, MA, Joan M. Rockwood of Bradenton, FL, Audrey M. Ducharme and husband, Steven Ducharme of Westford, MA, Lisa M. Borzumato and husband, Chris Borzumato of Clinton, MA. He also leaves nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joan Morgan of Quincy MA; two sisters-in-law, Helen Blanchard of Chelmsford, MA, and Gabrielle Haley of Enfield, CT; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, also by two sons-in-law, and a great-grandson.
