Lillian M. (Koning) Simmons
of Westford; formerly of Billerica; 89
WESTFORD -- Lillian M. (Koning) Simmons, 89, a resident of Westford and former Billerica resident died Monday, December 24th at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Chelmsford. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Simmons.
She was born in Medford on April 29, 1923 and was a daughter of the late William and Marie (Aldenberg) Koning. She received her education in Medford schools and was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1941.
Prior to her retirement, Lillian was employed for many years by BayBank Burlington and Raytheon Company in Lexington. She had also been employed by the IRS in Andover, Jordan Marsh in Burlington, The Chesterton Company in Boston, and she drove a bus for disabled adults in Billerica.
She was also an active volunteer for R.A.R.A. in Lowell.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Billerica, and The Order of the Eastern Star, Billerica Chapter No. 212. Along with her husband, Lillian was also active in the Thomas Talbot Masonic Lodge in Billerica.
Lillian enjoyed gardening, and boating and camping on Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, NH.
She is survived by her son Donald D. Simmons and his wife Kathleen of Chelmsford; her daughter Lynne M. Simmons-Peterson and her husband Stephen of Westford; five grandchildren, Randy, Ryan, and Riley Peterson and Cory and Kristy Simmons; three great- grandchildren, Ashlyn Simmons, and Mikayla and Amanda Kennedy; two brothers, Ronald Koning and his wife Mariella of NH and Robert Koning and his wife Marylou of Carlisle; a sister Marie Butman and her husband Frank of FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Beverly Simmons and the sister of the late William Koning and Mina Becker.
SIMMONS -- Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Sunday from 12 until 5 pm. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 o'clock at the First Congregational Church of Billerica, 18 Andover Road, Billerica. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
