Lillian Pelekasis

Lillian Pelekasis Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt -- LOWELL, MA -- Lillian (Kyriakos) Pelekasis, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Lowell, MA. She was born September 18, 1926 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of Christos and Panagiota (Gekalos) Kyriakos. She was the widow of the late Arthur Pelekasis, the love of her life, who died in 1996. She attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1944 where she was a Girl Officer and member of the National Honor Society. She was a lifelong resident of Lowell until 2011 when she moved to Tyngsboro, MA to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Lillian worked for the MDC, Water Division - MWRA in Boston, MA as an Administrative Assistant for 40 years retiring in 1986. In a time when women rarely held positions of power, she helped keep this large organization running smoothly behind the scenes. For many years, she was the hostess for large Thanksgiving celebrations attended by her entire extended family. This was for many the must attend function of the year. After her retirement, she enjoyed going to horse races at Rockingham Park with her husband who she doted on lovingly until he passed away in 1996. After his death, her boundless generosity towards her daughter and grandchildren took center stage. She was truly selfless in word and deed and did all she could to improve the lives of her family and friends. As the Tom Brady era dawned this lifelong Patriots fan became even more devoted. She watched every game cheering them on to three Super Bowls often more loudly than anyone else in the room. She was a truly special person who will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell, MA. Lillian is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Althea and Ronald Howland of Tyngsboro, MA; two grandchildren, Dr. William A. Pultar of Salem, MA and Brian J. Pultar of Lowell, MA; one sister, Connie Pelley of Chelmsford, MA; also several nieces and nephews.
