NASHUA, NH -- Robert E. Sayers, 88, of Nashua, NH, formerly a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on August 12, 2013, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
Born in Lowell, January 15, 1925, a son of the late John T. Sayers (former Lowell Police Superintendent) and Margaret C. (Dolan) Sayers. He received his early education in the Lowell Public Schools, and graduated from Keith Academy with the Class of 1942. He furthered his education, earning a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Notre Dame
, and a Master's Degree at the Chrysler Institute of Engineering.
During World War II
, Mr. Sayers served in the U. S. Army with the 777th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion, and participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland (Bastogne) and Central Europe campaigns. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
After his honorable discharge from service, Robert spent many years as a sales engineer and consultant in the electronics and systems manufacturing industries.
He leaves a very dear friend, Mary Ann Nochnuk of Nashua, NH. He was the brother of the late John T. Sayers and Thomas M. Sayers.
SAYERS -- In Nashua, NH, August 12, 2013. Robert E. Sayers, 88, of Nashua, formerly a longtime resident of the Highlands neighborhood of Lowell. It being his wish, there are no calling hours. Robert's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, Lowell, on Monday at 10:00 AM. (All who wish to attend are asked to meet at Church.) Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury, with a ceremony of Military Funeral Honors performed by the Walker Rogers Post 662 Veterans of Foreign War Honor Guard.
