Loving husband, father, and grandfather
TEWKSBURY Robert W. Callahan, age 63, beloved husband of Patricia E. (Strickland) Callahan to whom he was married 39 years, died Thursday, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Everett, June 13, 1949 a son of the late Robert W. and Thelma (Evans) Callahan, and lived in Everett prior to moving to Tewksbury 38 years ago.
Mr. Callahan served in the US Army as a Combat Medic during the Vietnam War
where he was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star
He was a Central Office Technician for Verizon in Malden for 42 years retiring in 2010, a member of IBEW Local 2222, as well as a member of the Malden VFW
and American Legion.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, David Callahan of Lowell; one daughter, Laura Callahan of Tewksbury; one brother, Ralph Brown and his wife, Pat of Wakefield; two sisters, Carol Thidemann and her husband, Eric of Peabody and Maureen Clark and her husband, Bob of Bradford; two grandchildren, Alysa and Devin Callahan as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John Brown.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday in the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
