William H. 'Bill' Donovan
of Lowell, Korean War
LOWELL -- William H. "Bill" Donovan, 85, a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and husband of the late Adele J. (Szmytd) Donovan who died in 2006, died Friday, March 29, 2013, following a brief illness.
Born in Lowell on August 20, 1927, he was a son of the late William H and Helen (Breen) Donovan and received his education in St. Michael's School and Keith Academy.
During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Donovan served his country in the United States Army
and attained the rank of Corporal.
For many years, he was employed with the Courier Citizen Printing Company, as an Estimator.
He was an avid sports fan of all the Boston sports teams, and enjoyed walks along the Merrimack River with his friend the late Jim Sharkey.
Mr. Donovan was a longtime resident of the Centraville section of the City and a Communicant of St. Michael Church.
He is survived by his son, Joseph W. Donovan and his wife, Christine A. (Hancock) Donovan of Tyngsboro; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. Donovan was the brother of the late June Brassil.
DONOVAN -- Relatives And friends may call at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 HILDRETH STREET from 4 until 7 PM on Tuesday. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
