Wilmer H. 'Bolo' Simard; 75
LOWELL -- Mr. Wilmer H. "Bolo" Simard, age 75, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Monday afternoon, April 15th, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital, after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Arlene J. (Richardson) Simard, with whom he shared 40 years of his life.
He was born in Lowell MA, September 15th, 1937, son of the late Edward & Anna (Pelletier) Simard. He received his education at the Butler Elementary School and Lowell High School. He then went on to serve in the US Army from 1960-1962 and was stationed in Panama as a 4th Grade Specialist.
Prior to his retirement, Wilmer was employed as a security guard for the Marriott Residence Inn in Tewksbury for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked as a cutter in the Lowell Boott Mills for over 30 years.
First and foremost, "Bolo" as he was known, was a devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather. He loved rock n' roll music, old movies, good food, and telling stories about his antics and adventures in the "good ole days." When not spending time with his family, Wilmer tended to his two vegetable gardens, known for the best tomatoes in the east. He lived his life according to the principles he believed. He was wise, witty and true. His special way of sharing great wisdom, sound guidance and powerful life lessons inspired many. His family and friends meant the world to him and he will be missed by many.
Besides his loving wife, Arlene, he is survived by a daughter, Lee-Ann E. Simard and her fiancé, David Colclough of Andover; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward R. McInnis and his wife, Lee Anne (Hillard) McInnis of Milford, NH; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Kristi McInnis of Milford, NH; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet & Frank DiLisio of FL, and Pauline & Charlie Karoutas of Dracut; a sister-in-law, Eileen (Simard) Fitzgibbons of Chelmsford; eight nieces & nephews; and several dear friends. He was the brother of the late Paul Simard and Bertha (Simard) Trudeau.
