Rita Bixby Obituary
of Lowell; 78
LOWELL -- Rita Katherine (Keane) Bixby RN, 78, of Lowell, MA, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Emerson Hospital in Concord, after an illness.
Born in Washington Court House, Ohio on December 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Patrick and Beryl (Davidson) Keane. She was raised in Washington Court House, OH and graduated with the Class of 1950 from Washington Court House High School.
She attended Lowell Vocational Technical School for Nursing. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Northern Essex College in Haverhill and attained her RN license in 1977.
Rita worked at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. After retiring, she volunteered for Elder Services of Merrimack Valley teaching computer services to the Elderly. She also volunteered for the Merrimack Valley Medical Reserve Corp for Disaster Management and the Chelmsford Pressure Clinic in Chelmsford. Rita enjoyed spending time with her friends at Panera Bread.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, George R. III and Patricia Bixby of Lyndeborough, NH, Michael Bixby and Karen Bushy of Pepperell, MA, and Gregory and Bonnie Bixby, of Wilmington, NC; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Marilyn Bixby and Leon Laflamme of Nashua, NH, Jean and Thomas Cairney of Brookline, NH, Elizabeth and David White of Eldersburg, MA; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Julie, Jennie, Gina, Gregory, Jared, Patrick, William, Katherine and David; three great-grandchildren, Quinn, Myles, and Emma; four cousins, Wayne Davidson of Ohio, Jim Davidson of Missouri, Ivan Davidson, and Virginia Bright, both of Florida; many friends from Emerson Hospital, Chelmsford, Lowell, and Ohio.
BIXBY -- Rita K. (Keane) Bixby, of Lowell, MA, died April 7, 2011. NO Visiting hours. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. So sorry to hear of the loss of your
dear mother. It surely was a shock to me.

I've known her for not so long but its her kindness and positive attitude to other people (beyond race, color and religion) that would not let me forget her and her sweet smile.

Thank you so much to her wonderful friends sitting and talking with her and for just being there. Thank you also to the wonderful team of Doctors and Nurses at Emerson Hospital who provided care and dignity to her and to us. She loved you all and kept you in her heart.
