DRACUT -- John Lyons, 64, passed away Saturday, May 31st, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, with his family by his side. He had celebrated his 43rd Wedding Anniversary, with his beloved wife Elaine (Walsh) Lyons on May 8th.

John was very active as a coach in the Highlands Baseball Little league and the Lowell Pop Warner. In 1975, John's father in-law, James Walsh, started the instructional league and taught John the ins and outs of being a coach and manager. He also served as the assistant football coach at Lowell Catholic High School with Tim Walsh. John loved working and mentoring the kids and left a lasting impression on so many lives. John also enjoyed golfing, and was an avid sports enthusiast.

John was a dedicated and loving Husband, Father and Grampy, who always put his family first. He will be sadly missed by all. Along with his wife Elaine, John is survived by his son, John Lyons Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Tyngsboro; his daughter, Tara Sheehan of Dracut; his brother, Jesse Lyons and his wife Katherine of Lebanon, NH; 5 beloved granddaughters, Kailee and Rebecca Lyons, Hannah and Alison Sheehan and Miranda McCooty; his niece and nephew, Amy Lyons and David Lyons; grandnephew, Declan Lyons; his 2 close cousins, John Nickerson and his wife Lori and Kevin Nickerson and his wife Patricia; close friends, George Demers, Jack Flynn and Joe Mraz and many more dear friends; brother-in-laws, James Walsh and his wife Judy, Michael Walsh and his wife Kate; sister-in-laws, Jeanne Leaver and her husband Rick and Nan Walsh; as well as several other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

John was predeceased by his very good friend, Joe Camacho.

To the Lyons Family, we are so, so, sorry for your loss.

Little did we know that God would call his name. In life we loved him dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose him, he did not go alone. For part of us went
with him the day God called him home.

He will be greatly missed. Keep his memories close to your heart.

Love and hugs to all,
Elaine & Michelle

We lost a great coach who always went out of his way to help all the players. He was always so positive about everything. When he was at Lowell Catholic he and Tim did an awesome job building a very successful team. The kids enjoyed coming to practice everyday. He will be missed by so many former players and members of the entire community. Dennis Scannell

Dear Lyons Family, I had the pleasure of having John work at the Parker School during his last few months in Billerica. What a pleasure he was to have in a school- friendly,hard-working and always willing to do whatever was needed and then would go the extra step. And who could forget that smile! He talked about all of you every day and loved to talk about his grandchildren. I am so sorry for your loss and wish he had more time in retirement. My sincere sympathy.
