Robert J. DesLauriers
of Dracut, Army Vet; 70
DRACUT -- Robert J. DesLauriers, 70, passed away on February 12th, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital, due to a long period of declining health.
He was born in Lowell in 1942, the son of the late Prosper and Lucinda (Montgomery) DesLauriers. He was a graduate of Dracut High School, class of 1960.
He served in the Army during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the establishment on the Berlin Wall.
He was married to Margaret (Connaughton) DesLauriers, with whom he would have celebrated his 46th Anniversary in April.
Upon leaving the service, he worked in the High Tech Industry as a Quality Assurance Manager for several companies, including Computer Devices and Wang Laboratories. He attained his business degree from Middlesex Community College.
When he left the High Tech world, he established a carpentry business from which he retired due to illness in 2002.
He was a talented man whose mechanical abilities were shared happily with friends and family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him and appreciated his generous spirit.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and his wife, Christine DesLauriers of Damascus, Maryland and Michael and his wife Amy DesLauriers of Clermont, Florida; he also leaves two precious grandchildren, Joshua and Kylie DesLauriers, also of Damascus, Maryland; his sister, Carol, and sister-in-law, Darlene Dery of Hollis, NH; as well as a sister-in-law, Margery DesLauriers of Tyngsboro. His extended family also includes many nieces and nephews and good friends fathered through the years.
He is predeceased by his two brothers, Edward and Paul.
DesLAURIERS -- Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on Sunday, February 17th from 2 until 5 PM. His Funeral will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, February 18th at 10 AM. Cremation will follow.
