NORTH CHELMSFORD -- Alan L. Teubner, 75, a longtime resident of North Chelmsford, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013 of a heart related illness.
He was the beloved husband of the late Ulla R. L. (Andersson) Teubner, who emigrated here from Sweden.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 8, 1937 and was the son of the late Edmund and Charlotte (Laum) Teubner. He attended Saint Peter's School in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Upper Darby High School. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University and a J.D. from Suffolk Law School.
Alan served his country from 1956-1969 in the United States Navy.
After settling in North Chelmsford, he was employed for 30 years as a software engineer for several area high tech software companies, including Honeywell and Digital Equipment Corp.
An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chelmsford, Alan was president of the congregation from 1991-1997 and later joined the mutual ministry committee. His recent activities on Trinity's social ministry committee included volunteer evenings serving supper at the Lowell Transitional Living Center. For the last 10 years, he regularly volunteered with the New England Seafarers Mission in Boston, helping seafarers contact home and safely send wages back to their families, and developing software programs for the Mission's computer system.
He is survived by his three children; Diane Teubner, David Teubner, and Steven Teubner, and a granddaughter, Katie. He leaves his late wife Ulla's family in Sweden. He also leaves his close and dear friend, Elaine Bamford.
TEUBNER -- ALAN L. Visiting hours TODAY (Thursday) from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service will be on Friday at 11 o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 170 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow at West Chelmsford Cemetery.
