NORTH CONWAY, NH Alice A. Dunn, a former
Lowell and Chelmsford resident, more recently of North Conway, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, August 20, 2009, at the Mineral Springs Nursing Home in North Conway.
Alice was born in Haverhill, MA, on November 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Frank and Ann B. (Martin) Dunn.
She received her early education at both the Sacred Heart and the
Immaculate Conception Grammar Schools in Lowell. Alice was a
graduate of Lowell High School and the Lowell State Teacher's College.
For her entire professional career, Alice was employed as a school
teacher with the Andover Public School System. Upon her retirement, Alice moved to North Conway because of her love for the mountains. In North Conway, Alice worked at Memorial Hospital and later was a volunteer at the hospital. She then did volunteer work at the SunBridge Rehab Center before she became a resident there.
Alice maintained an active lifestyle and had an
appreciation for life. In her younger years she enjoyed playing sports, especially golf, tennis and skiing. She was even a basketball referee. Alice enjoyed photography and traveling. She was especially fond of family related activities.
Surviving Alice are her sister, Helen Frances Durkin and her husband, James J. Durkin, Jr. of Chelmsford; her nieces and nephews, Jim Durkin of Tyngsboro, Anne Marie Muething of Bethlehem, PA, Frank Durkin of Ashby, MA, Ed Durkin of Townsend, MA, Tommy Gillick of Venezuela, Terry Gillick of North Carolina, Kevin Gillick of Greenwich, CT, and Dennis Gillick of
Hampton, NH; also many great nieces and nephews.
Alice was also the sister of the late Margaret Gillick.

Chelmsford resident. Family and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on MONDAY MORNING at 11 o'clock at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, 145 East Merrimack Street, Lowell,
celebrated by the Rev. George Kirwin, O.M.I. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery.
