Malden Carpenter; 52
TEWKSBURY -- Anthony C. Parla, age 52, a well known and amiable Malden carpenter, died Sunday, December 2nd, at his Wilmington apartment after a courageous four year battle with Leukemia. Throughout his years of treatments he remained optimistic, brave, even sometimes gallant, and uncomplaining.
He was born in East Boston, August 13, 1960, the son of Ralph C. and Mary (Maddison) Parla, of Tewksbury. He was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1978. He went on to Boston State College to earn an Associates Degree. He continued to live the greater part of his life in Malden and later Tewksbury, and moved to Wilmington two years ago.
He was a self-employed carpenter, and held membership in the Malden Eagles Club, and the Malden East Side Club.
He was an expert skier, who had skied most of the New England peaks, and loved dogs. His family described him as well respected and well liked, willing to lend a hand to family or friends, generous in nature and spirit, and part of a larger loving family.
Besides his beloved mother and father, he is survived by two sisters, Julie M. Parla of Tewksbury and Linda A. Parla of Derry, NH; a niece, Emma N. Parla-Aziz of Tewksbury; paternal grandmother, Ruth (Brown) Parla of Jamaica Plain; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in both the greater Durham, England, the greater Boston, and Virginia areas.
