Arthur L. Diamantopoulos
lifelong Lowell resident; 81
LOWELL -- Arthur L. Diamantopoulos, 81, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus, after a long illness. He was the widower of the late Mary T. (Kallelis) Diamantopoulos, who passed away in 2006.
A son of the late Loukas and the late Agnes (Keefe) Diamantopoulos, he was born September 24, 1932, in Lowell, was educated in the local schools, and graduated from Lowell High School. He served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He made his lifelong home in Lowell, and after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he worked for the Boston Naval Shipyard (Shop 38) before he worked for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair in Boston, until his retirement. Mr. Diamantopoulos enjoyed camping and canoeing while his children were growing up, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Tina Diamantopoulos, and his son-in-law, Robert Angelari of Dracut, David Diamantopoulos and his wife, Loredana, of Alexandria, VA, and Angela MacMillan and her husband, Steven, of Lowell; his granddaughters, Sara MacMillan of Lowell, and Kalista Diamantopoulos of Alexandria, VA; his brother, John Diamantopoulos and his wife, Cindy, of Lowell; his sister, Shirley Koutash and her husband, Edward, of Derry, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Mary Paquette and her husband, Roland, and the late Charles Diamantopoulos.
