LOWELL -- Mr. Benjamin Cotto, age 54, of Lowell, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 7, 2013, in Lowell.
For 35 years, he was the beloved husband of Nancy Shanley.
He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on October 31, 1958, son of the late Roberto Cotto Colon and Angelina Hernandez Colon. He moved from Puerto Rico to New York at a young age. Soon after moving to Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1979.
Prior to his retirement, he worked in maintenance at Heritage Nursing Home. Prior to that, he had worked at Wang Labs in the warehouse for many years. Previously, he worked for the Lowell Sun as a truck driver.
Besides his wife, Nancy, he is survived by a son, Robert Cotto; a grandson, Nahquise Cotto, and a granddaughter, Gianna Rivera, all of Lowell; his brothers and their spouses, Wilfredo & Lucy Colon, Eddie & Miriam Cotto, William & Tina Colon, and Miguel Salaman, all of Lowell; his sisters and their spouses, Nelly Andino, Millie & Gustavo Sepulveda, and Aide Colon and her husband Andre Rivera, all of Lowell; his mother-in-law, Theresa Shanley, sister-in-law, Barbara Shanley, brothers-in-law and their spouses, Charles & Michelle Shanley, Edward & Diane Shanley, Robert Shanley, and James & Laura Shanley, all of Lowell; also many nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was brother of the late Gilbert Luis and Efrain Colon, Thomas and Carlos Cotto, and Nilsa Carmona; and brother-in-law of the late Suzanne Shanley.
COTTO -- Benjamin; 54, of Lowell. Cremation to take place Monday. Relatives & friends are invited to his memorial visitation and funeral at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A prayer service will take place in the funeral home to conclude visitation.
