Catherine M. Houlné
of Nashua, NH, former Billerica Resident

NASHUA, NH -- Catherine (Kay) M. Houlné, age 93, wife of the late Maurice J. Houlné died Sunday, September, 1, 2013 at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Lowell, MA on April 30, 1920, the daughter of the late William Holmes and Honora (Powers) Holmes and was raised in Billerica and moved to Nashua in 1997.

While living in Billerica, Mrs. Houlné was an active communicant of St. Theresa Church and was a member of the Sodality. She later became a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Nashua and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a lifelong volunteer for many church related activities, including the Corpus Christi Food Pantry. Her most cherished time was spent as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Houlné and his wife Peggy of Tyngsboro, MA, Joseph Houlné and his wife Nancy of Pelham, NH, Martin Houlné of Nashua, NH, her daughters, Maurine Costa and her husband John of Hudson, NH, Mary Krom and her husband Stephen of Nashua, NH, her brother, Paul Holmes of Billerica, MA., and Sisters-in-Law Dolly Holmes and Amy Houlné. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jonathan and Melissa Mooney, Sarah Pieroni and her husband Steve, Anne Howells and her husband Jim, Jared Houlné and his wife Andrea, AJ Houlné, Heather and Andrew Krom, Greg and Abbi Houlné and 1 great- granddaughter Lydia Houlné as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Houlné was the sister of the late Kenneth Holmes and Veronica Fortin and grandmother of the late Hannah Krom.

HOULNÉ -- Of Nashua, NH, formerly of Billerica, Sept. 1, Catherine M. (Holmes) Houlné, Visiting hours will be held Thursday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday September 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua at 10 a.m. Please meet at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Corpus Christi Food Pantry, 43 Franklin Street, Nashua, NH 03064. Burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester, NH. www.sweeneymemorialfh.com
