AYER -- Catherine S. (Ainslie) Lawson, 92, formerly of Pond Street, Ayer and Nashua, NH, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Apple Valley Center, Ayer.

Her husband, Russell C. Lawson Sr., died September 29, 1998.

Mrs. Lawson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, July 31, 1921, a daughter of James and Catherine (Nicoll) Ainslie, and resided in Nashua, NH before moving to Ayer 10 years ago. She came to the United States in 1946 after serving five years in the Royal British Air Force.

She leaves her son, Russell C. Lawson, VMD and his fiancée, Mary D. Schofield of Manchester, NH; her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Kevin Ayers of Ayer; five grandchildren, Russell C. Lawson III of Ava MO, Peter M. Topjian of Nashua, NH, Kristen D. Rushton of Beverly, Sean R. Keen of Florida and Kristina A. Heller of California; two great-grandsons; two sisters-in-law, Moira Ainslie of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Verna Lemire of Billerica.

She was predeceased by two infant sisters and her brother, Lawrence Ainslie, a grandson, Derek Wisnowski who died in 1981, and her daughter-in-law, Anne M. Lawson who died last year.

Prior to her retirement in 2002, Mrs. Lawson had worked in her son's veterinary practice, Lawson Veterinary Hospital in Hudson, NH. Previously, Mrs. Lawson had worked as clothing buyer for several department stores including Bon Marche', Pariseau's, A.G. Pollard and subsequently Lynch's Department Stores in Lowell. She had also worked at Sago Carpet Company in Chelmsford.

LAWSON -- A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 1st at the Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Road, Chelmsford, MA. Anderson Funeral Home in Ayer is assisting the family with arrangements.
