Charles Thomas Poulios
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather

WESTFORD -- Charles "Chuckie" Thomas Poulios, 83, died peacefully November 11, 2012, with his loved ones by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Charlie was born August 15, 1929 in Lowell, Massachusetts the son of the late Thomas and Ziotsa (Deros) Poulios. He was the devoted husband of Virginia (Scarmeas) Poulios for fifty-three years.

Charlie graduated from Lowell High School, class of 1949 where he played football for the legendary Ray Riddick.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.

Charlie graduated from Suffolk University with a degree in accounting and went on to study at Salem State. Upon graduation, he was employed by Market Basket, and Western Electric. Before his illness he worked at Raytheon in Waltham.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church and the Greek American Legion Post #1. Charlie was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and especially Notre Dame Football.

Charlie always made it known how much he loved his country, its flag, his Greek heritage, his church, and the good "old acre". But the greatest loves of his life was his wife 'Gin" and his family.

Besides his loving wife, Virginia, he is survived by his daughter, Joyce Cahill and her husband Dana, a son, Thomas Poulios and his wife Casey all of Tyngsboro; "Papou" to his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Cahill, Anna and Alexa Poulios; a brother, William Poulios and his wife Bess, a sister, Helen Patterson, a brother-in-law, James Daoulas; and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur, Tarsy - former Mayor of Lowell; and a sister, Sultana Daoulas.

POULIOS -- Relatives and friends will be received at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Lowell on Wednesday, November 14th from 10:00am to 11:00am. His funeral service will follow at Holy Trinity Church at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery II, Lowell. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, Ma. 01854.
