Claire Lynne Lambert
Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister,
Aunt, Retired Lowell School Teacher
DRACUT -- Claire Lynne (Coutu) Lambert, a resident of Dracut for 36 years, passed away on Saturday morning, September 7, 2013 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston, following a lengthy illness. She was 67 years old.
Claire was born in Lowell on February 26, 1946, one of three children of the late Henri J. and Virginia A. (Spence) Coutu. She was educated in the Lowell Schools and was a graduate of the Lowell State Teacher's College. Claire enjoyed a 36 year career in education, teaching the children of Lowell. Mrs. Lambert served for many years as a Special Education Teacher and later as an elementary classroom teacher. She taught at the Joseph A. McAvinnue School and spent the majority of her career at the Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School. She was a wonderful teacher who loved children and devoted herself to the vocation of education.
For a part of her professional career, Claire was a teacher and advocate for the Massachusetts Migrant Education Program, a six week Summer Program every year, which fostered migratory children.
Following her retirement, Mrs. Lambert remained active as a school volunteer and as a substitute teacher. Once a teacher, always a teacher!
In her free time, Claire was a clothes shopping enthusiast. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, and going to the beach to sit in the sun. Claire had a lifelong passion for reading, something that she was fortunate enough to share with her grandchildren. She was the best "Grammy" that any grandchild could have.
Surviving Mrs. Lambert are her two children, Michelle Gorman of Nashua, NH, and Thomas S. Lambert, Jr. and his wife Camille P. Lambert of Derry, NH; her grandchildren, Joseph Henri Gorman of Nashua, and Thomas Lambert and Michael Lambert, both of Derry; her sister, Patricia Nicolaisen and her husband Paul; her brother, John Coutu and his wife Connie; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
