DUNSTABLE, MA -- Donald Banfield, 83, of Dunstable, MA died Friday January 31, 2014 at the Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell, MA after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Berrigan) Banfield with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Born in Gloucester, MA, he was a son of the late James and Elsie Banfield. Donald was raised in Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1949, serving with the US Navy during the Korean War.

A 47 year resident of Dunstable, he was employed as a Lineman for Massachusetts Electric of Lowell for many years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed carpentry and landscaping. Donald loved watching hockey and was an avid Boston Bruins Fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Banfield of Nashua, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Ranhoff of Canton, ME; a nephew, James Walen of Gloucester, MA and a niece, Laurie Walen of Seabrook, NH and his dear friends, Judy Daigle of Groton, MA and the Daigle family.

He was predeceased by his brother, Roy Banfield of Long Island, NY and his sister, Eileen Walen of Gloucester, MA.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Cardiac Care Unit of Lowell General Hospital and special thank you to the Fairhaven Healthcare Center for their excellent care and compassion.

BANFIELD -- Donald Banfield of Dunstable,MA died Jan. 31, 2014. Visiting hours are Thursday from 9 to 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, MA.
