AYER -- Dorothy (Ball) Davis, 85, of Ayer, died Friday, August 23, 2013 , at the Apple Valley Center, Ayer after a lengthy illness.
Dorothy (Ball) DavisMrs. Davis was born in Ayer, January 23, 1928, a daughter of Frank S. and Lottie M. (Craft) Ball and resided most of her life in Ayer. She attended Ayer High School.
She worked over twenty years at the Nashoba Club Restaurant in Ayer. Prior to that she worked in the cafeteria at Ayer High School and during the 1950's worked for New England Telephone Company.
Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ayer and enjoyed baking.
She leaves her daughter, Charlene Purcell of CT; a brother-in-law and his wife, Howard and Ethel Davis of Townsend; a sister-in-law and her husband, Beverly & Robert Cobb of Harvard; her longtime companion, James Garvin of Ayer; her cousins, Mary Craft of Shirley, Martha Craft of Abington, Flo Scott of Fitchburg, Ruth Craft of Brockton, and three grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her two sons, Peter Davis in 1980 and Andrew Davis in 1985.
DAVIS -- A private graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Harvard Road, Ayer, There are no calling hours
The T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Ayer is assisting the family with arrangements.
