WEST CHATHAM -- Douglas Hastbacka who died on December 5, 2010 was a long time resident of W. Chatham who loved fishing and boating. This accident left him partially disabled and resulted in requiring ten major surgeries to repair the damages

Chatham MA. Doug attended the Portsmouth Abbey School, Chelmsford High School, UMASS Amherst, and Boston College.

He is survived by his parents Al and Ruthellen Hastbacka of Amherst NH and W Chatham MA; brother Mark Hastbacka of Weston FL and brother Alan Hastbacka of West Chatham. He will be greatly missed by his sister-inlaw Kendra Hastbacka, his niece Heather Hastbacka , and nephew Kyle of Weston Florida; his sister-inlaw Elise of W. Chatham; and his aunt Mildred Hastbacka of Needham, MA. In addition, he is survived by an extended circle of family and friends.

Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, and skeet shooting. His family and friends will remember him with love and affection and his late night calls .

HASTBACKA -- A funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Redeemer Church in Chatham on Saturday December 11, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, Doug wished donations be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) or the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Cape Cod.
