Eleanor Costa
Loving mother, grandmother,

and great-grandmother

CHELMSFORD -- Eleanor (Cardinale) Costa, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family to whom she was deeply devoted. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Costa who passed away on March 11, 2004.

Eleanor was born in Boston on January 6, 1923, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Marie (Morello) Cardinale. She was a high school graduate in the Boston school system.

Eleanor spent her life tending to the needs of her home and family.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her loving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her three children, Joanne Guilmette and her husband, Richard of Chelmsford, Charles Costa and his wife, Patricia of Lowell, and Michael Costa of Chelmsford; three grandchildren, Joseph Guilmette and his wife, Kelly, Jason Guilmette and his wife, Patti, and Jonathan Guilmette, all of Chelmsford; six great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Julianne, Evan, Elena, Ethan, and Nathan; two sisters, Edith Moynihan and Theresa Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.

COSTA -- There will be no visitation. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Irene Church with burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Irene Church, 181 East St., Carlisle, MA 01741.
