DRACUT -- Elvira D. (Vallante) Mellor 88, passed away on Monday, May 13th at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished wife of Donald T. Mellor, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Elvira was born in Lawrence on February 7, 1925, a daughter of Maria (Elio) Vallante and Bartolomeo Vallante. She received her education in the Dracut school system and was a graduate of Dracut High School.
Elvira (Vera) had a strong passion for all types of music. She always had music playing, and would sing and dance around when she thought no one was watching. In the early 40's she and her sister performed at the Lakeview ballroom, singing, dancing and occasionally yodeling.
She had a love for all animals, especially cats. She enjoyed nature and spent lots of time gardening. One of her great hobbies was collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. On Sundays and holidays the family gathered for her Italian meals. She made the best meatballs and sauce with recipes passed down from her Mom, who came from the Napoli Region of Italy. She cherished time spent with her loving family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three children; Ron Mellor of Pelham, NH, Don and his wife Kim of Dracut and Colleen and her husband Ted of Pelham, NH; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Angie, Jarid, Donny and Kaile; as well as six great-grandchildren, Larry, Brianna, Beth, Paige , Aiden and Killian.
