of Chelmsford; 94

CHELMSFORD -- Esther Currie McCabe, 94, died Wednesday morning, January 30th surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Kenneth B. McCabe.

She was born in Somerville on September 10, 1918, and was a daughter of the late Harold V. and Elizabeth E. (Marshall) Currie. She was a graduate of Newton High School and Framingham State College.

Esther served her country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II.

She spent her career as a dietician at many Boston area hospitals, beginning at Boston State Hospital and prior to her retirement, she was head dietician at Malden State Hospital.

She was a member of the American Dietician Association.

Esther loved reading, gardening, sewing, and watching Boston sports, but above all she found great joy in her family's life adventures.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth McCabe and his wife Sandy, her daughter, Deborah Fleming and her longtime companion Wayne; four grandchildren, Mark Fleming and his wife Colleen, Kerry Fleming, Christopher McCabe and is wife Sarah, and Jaime Fleming; and four great-grandchildren, Owen, Leila, William, and Zachary.

She expressed unconditional love to her family and friends, and was blessed with her dear friend Ruth Morey. She touched many lives and will be truly missed.

MCCABE -- It being her wish, there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, February 9th at 10 o'clock at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 242 Boston Rd Chelmsford. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Esther's name to the Greater Lowell Visiting Nurses, 336 Central St., Lowell, MA 01852.
