SALEM, NH -- Francis A. Brown, 78, of Salem, NH, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
The son of the late Frank G. and Amelia (Waitkevitch) Brown, Frank was born in Methuen, Mass. on December 16, 1934. He was educated in Dracut schools and was a graduate of Dracut High School, Class of 1953. He furthered his education taking trades courses for a machinist. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959. His specialty in the Navy was as a machinery repair-man. After his discharge, he was employed for many years as Machine Shop Foreman at Towers Motor Parts. Later, he was employed at AVCO, later Textron, as a Research and Development Machinist until his retirement. He made parts for the Apollo Space Program and many other Defense projects. In his pastime, he enjoyed rebuilding tractors and other machinery. Prior to his moving to Salem, NH, he resided for many years on Wheeler Street in Methuen.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Jean (Ratcliffe) Brown of Salem, NH; three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Mike Hellenbrand of Cross Plains, Wisconsin, Donna and Rob Manning of Swampscott, MA, and Sharon and Gary Gillespie of Methuen, MA; two grandchildren, Ava Gillespie and Jamie Gillespie; a niece, Marion Brown of Methuen, MA; a nephew, William Brown, Jr., of Pennsylvania; his mother-in-law, Jennie Ratcliffe of Methuen.
Frank was the brother of the late William Brown, Sr., of Methuen.
BROWN -- At the request of the family, private Funeral Services will be held. Burial will take place in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
