NASHUA, NH -- Francis R. Barretto, 93, of Nashua, NH, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Greenbriar, Kindred Traditional Care & Rehabilitation in Nashua, NH.

In 1948, he met and married the late Gloria (Fuoroli) Barretto with whom he was married for 36 years until her death in 1985. He was later married to the late Anita (O'Connor) Barretto who died on July 13, 2006.

Born in Westford, he was the son of the late Franceso and Benedetta Barretto. He graduated from Westford Academy, and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute.

He proudly served with the US Army Air Corps during World War II and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon as well as three Battle stars.

He worked as an electrical engineer for Western Electric, until his retirement in 1976.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of Chelmsford, MA, and in recent years, St. Joseph's Church of Nashua, NH.

Francis was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, traveling, and especially cruises. He took great pride in his yard, and could often be found on his ride-on lawn mower.

He is survived by two sons, Alan Barretto of North Chelmsford, and Steven and his wife, Kay of Salem, NH; a daughter, Christina and her husband, Emanuel Manolopoulos of Westford; a step daughter, Sharon and her husband, Bob Nista of Tyngsboro; two step sons, Joseph and his wife, Susan O'Connor of Michigan, and Ronald and his wife, Susan Letty of Florida; two sisters, Lillian and her husband, Scott Peek of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Ida Giunta of Westford, MA, a brother, Gene Barretto of Nashua, NH, eight grandchildren, Jarrod and Gloria Barretto, Brigette Bell, Kristin Langlois, Debbie Dennis, Pamela Harvey, Jeremiah and Rosemary O'Connor; and a great-grandson, George Barrett Bell.

Francis was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

BARRETTO -- Francis R. Barretto of Nashua, NH died March 12, 2013. Visiting hours Fri. 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Sat. at 9 AM from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Merrimack Valley Catholic Charities, 70 Lawrence St., Lowell, MA 01852.
